The trend is real — and it's moving

CXC's 2025 results showed the regional benchmark (5+ subjects including Maths and English) rise from 41% to 44%, with Mathematics climbing from a 36% pass rate to 39% and English A from 76% to 80%. Overall Grade I–III passes across CSEC subjects improved from 68% to roughly 71%.

Revised & amended syllabuses
CXC rolled out revised syllabuses (including English) for teaching from September 2025 — updated objectives, new topics, and a refreshed English Literature prescribed-text list.

January sittings go online/hybrid
From 2026, CXC subjects offered in the January sitting move to online or hybrid administration.

New CTEC modular qualification
CXC is introducing the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate (CTEC), splitting traditional subjects into modules students can complete at their own pace, with the first certifications issued in 2026.
