Paper

Question 1 — Christian Beliefs (30 marks)

(a) State two beliefs Christians hold about the nature of God. [2]

(b) Describe Christian beliefs about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. [5]

(c) Explain, with reference to Christian teaching, why the belief in life after death is important to many Christians. [8]

(d) "Belief in God is the most important part of being a Christian."

Evaluate this statement. In your answer you should:

  • refer to Christianity
  • give reasoned arguments to support the statement
  • give reasoned arguments to support a different point of view
  • reach a justified conclusion. [15]

Question 2 — Christian Practices (30 marks)

(a) State two ways in which Christians might worship. [2]

(b) Describe what happens during a Christian baptism. [5]

(c) Explain, with reference to Christian teaching, why charity and helping others is important for many Christians. [8]

(d) "Going to church is the best way to show your faith as a Christian."

Evaluate this statement. In your answer you should:

  • refer to Christianity
  • give reasoned arguments to support the statement
  • give reasoned arguments to support a different point of view
  • reach a justified conclusion. [15]
