What’s different in January 2027

  • Paper 01 is online only. Every multiple-choice paper is taken on screen; there are no printed papers.
  • Paper 02 is hybrid. You read the questions on screen and write your answers in a paper booklet. Practise reading a long question from a screen before the day.
  • Last sitting on the old English and Maths syllabuses. The new ones start in May/June 2027, so January candidates revise the previous content. Our syllabus guide explains how to tell which applies.
  • Calculators are allowed only where the table below says so.

English A and English B Paper 032 are one common paper: candidates entered for both write it once.

Questions students ask

When do the CSEC January 2027 exams start and finish?
The written papers run from Tue 5 Jan 2027 to Fri 29 Jan 2027. The Spanish oral (Paper 03) comes first, between 16 and 18 December 2026, on dates set by each territory’s Local Registrar.
Which subjects can I sit in January 2027?
Thirteen: Biology, Chemistry, English A, English B, Human and Social Biology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Office Administration, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Social Studies, Spanish.
What time do the papers start?
Morning papers start at 9:00 am and afternoon papers at 1:00 pm, local time, at every centre. The durations on the timetable include reading time, and there is at least a 15-minute break between two papers on the same day.
Are the January 2027 papers online?
Yes. Every Paper 01 (multiple choice) is taken online only. Every Paper 02 is “hybrid”: you read the questions on screen and write your answers in a paper booklet. There are no printed question papers.
Is January 2027 on the old or the new English and Maths syllabus?
The old one. January 2027 is the last sitting on the previous English A, English B and Mathematics syllabuses; the new syllabuses start with May/June 2027. English B candidates in January answer on the set texts for June 2023 to January 2027.
Can I use a calculator?
Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Principles of Accounts allow a silent, non-programmable scientific calculator in Paper 01 and Paper 02. Mathematics and Office Administration allow one in Paper 02 only; Mathematics Paper 01 is non-calculator. Principles of Business allows none.
What is Paper 032?
The Alternative Paper to the SBA. Only private candidates sit it; students entered by a school submit an SBA instead. Its dates are listed at the bottom of this page.
